We needed to design and build something that was essentially a phone – capable of voice calls with a microphone and speaker – but also waterproof, so users could continue to have peace of mind while getting in and out of the shower. This was achieved through smart fall detection bracelet design and engineering, integrating antennas into the casing for a signal stronger than most mobile phones. The easy clip-buckle design is suitable for people with limited dexterity, and the long battery life and waterproof encasing allow it to be worn over long periods, even in slippery areas with higher fall risk, demonstrating successful development of a wearable-sensor-based fall detection system.
